Problem

A metropolitan development authority struggled to effectively communicate complex urban renewal plans to diverse stakeholders including residents, businesses, and investors.

Traditional presentation methods using static maps and technical documentation created barriers to understanding, resulting in community resistance and project delays.

Public meetings were characterized by confusion and frustration as citizens could not visualize how proposed changes would affect their neighborhoods.

The authority needed to transform dense spatial data into an accessible format that would foster meaningful engagement and informed decision-making.

Solution

I developed an Urban Renewal Visualization Hub that transformed complex urban development data into interactive, visually compelling digital experiences.

The platform featured:

  • Layered 3D mapping with toggle functionality allowing users to visualize before-and-after scenarios,

  • Timeline-based development phasing, and

  • Neighborhood-specific impact assessments.

I incorporated principles from both information architecture and physical architecture to create intuitive spatial relationships between data points.

The solution achieved remarkable results:

  • Public meeting attendance increased by 78%

  • Stakeholder feedback quality improved significantly

  • Project approval timelines decreased by 40%.

Most importantly, the platform bridged the communication gap between technical experts and community members, creating a shared visual language for urban transformation.
